Figueres: Essential Theatre-Museum Dalí Tour

0

“Each morning when I awake, I experience again a supreme pleasure – that of being Salvador Dalí.”Salvador Dalí

Explore the unique world of symbols and landscapes created by Dali’s bizarre mind through his museums. Embrace the surreal! One of the most celebrated Catalan artists, his three museums can be visited in the Empordà-Costa Brava area, north of Barcelona and close to the French border.

Visit the Theatre-Museum Dalí, in Figueres
The Teatre-Museu Dalí is not your typical museum. Housed in the town’s reconstructed theatre, where Dalí held his first exhibition as a teenager, the museum is bound to make an impression. It is a space that has been uniquely adapted to showcase Dalí’s artistic creations, where you become the star of his surreal show. Are you ready for something out of this world? This astounding, memorable, first-person experience offers a unique opportunity to enter the mind of one of the world’s most renowned — and bizarre — artists. Do you know anything about Salvador Dalí? Even better! A visit to his museum is quite the experience, whatever your interests. If you are already familiar with Dalí, this experience will only deepen your appreciation of the master of Surrealism!

Teatre-mueu Dalí – Flexible Tour Options
Figueres is easily accessible by train from both Girona and Barcelona, allowing for flexible tour arrangements. Your experience can begin in Figueres, in Girona, or as a full-day excursion from Barcelona. The tour can also be combined with other premium experiences, such as a visit to Girona’s historic quarter, a winery tour, or a gourmet meal in Figueres to complete the day in style.

The triangle of Dalí
The other two sites of the ‘Triangle of Dalí’ in the province of Girona, inland from the Costa Brava, are located in the stunning Cap de Creus peninsula and the small medieval village of Púbol:

Casa Salvador Dalí – Portlligat
If you want to get even more surreal, his home by the sea at Cadaqués is a great spot to visit and stay. If you are staying somewhere in Costa Brava, it can be a day excursion, but it is also a great area to stay one or two nights. Indeed, it is quite an isolated spot, and we suggest you take one day to also explore Cap de Creus National Park and the charming village of Cadaqués.

Castell Gala Dalí – Púbol
This Castle was Gala’s main residence for the latter part of her life. Gala is the artistic name of Elena Ivanovna Diakonova, a surrealist artist herself. She is mostly acknowledged because she was the wife and muse of Salvador Dalí. Exploring this surreal home is also a short trip to the unusual relationship between Gala and Salvador Dalí. The castle in Púbol is only 30 minutes away from Girona town, and it offers a great combination of surreal art with medieval charm.
