Canary Islands: Tailor-made tours

0

Is Spain’s tallest mountain really rising from the middle of the Atlantic?
Yes – and it stands in an archipelago where it feels like spring all year round. The Canary Islands offer far more than their reputation as a classic holiday destination. Venture off the beaten track, and you’ll discover dramatic nature, pre-Hispanic history, distinctive volcanic wines, and one of the world’s few whale sanctuaries.

Although the islands attract visitors throughout the year, knowing when and where to go can transform your trip entirely. With the right planning, the Canaries become the perfect base for an unforgettable travel experience, full of surprising contrasts and endless opportunities.

Tailor-Made Ideas in Canary Islands:
La Laguna

TENERIFE, Day Excursion to La Laguna & Wild Anaga

The historic streets of La Laguna, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, inspired the architecture and urban planning of many American colonial cities. This late-15th-century gem, with its geometric grid of streets and elegant Canarian houses, features serene courtyards, carved wooden balconies, and leafy squares shaded by Indian laurels and palms.

Just beyond the city lies a striking contrast: the Laurisilva forest of Anaga Rural Park, a living relic from the Tertiary period. Unique to the Canary Islands, this ancient ecosystem survived past glaciations and shelters hundreds of endemic species. Now a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, Anaga’s dramatic peaks, ravines, and mist-covered paths create one of Tenerife’s most wondrous landscapes.

Teide

TENERIFE, The Magical Teide Tour

A magical hiking route through sunset and into the night, to discover all its secrets and to contemplate the stars of the Teide National Park. A true open-air geological and volcanological museum.

The Teide National Park is a unique place in the world, declared a World Heritage Site for its natural singularity. It has been described and admired since ancient times. A magical and sacred place for the ancient aborigines of Tenerife, the Guanches, and the natural habitat of hundreds of endemic species of the Canary Islands. The colours of the different flows, volcanic materials, minerals, and rocks, in the evening light, do not leave anyone indifferent. Being located at an altitude of more than 2,000 meters above sea level, and due to the lack of humidity in the air and its relative proximity to the equator, it is one of the best places in the world for stargazing.

Following the steps of the old Camino de Chasna.
This route is a section of the old Camino de Chasna, used since pre-Hispanic times to cross the island from north to south. Throughout the excursion, we find remains of shepherds’ refuges and different views of Teide. A long, but comfortable walking tour of about 16 kilometres and 4h30 hours. It ends at night, to contemplate one of the best starry skies in the world, in complete silence. A unique experience within reach of a lucky few.

Las Palmas de Gran Canaria

GRAN CANARIA: explore the Miniature Continent

Gran Canaria, home to the archipelago’s capital, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, is often described as a “miniature continent” — and for good reason. This remarkable island offers a snapshot of everything the Canary Islands have to offer, making it the perfect choice if you can only visit one island.

From the golden desert dunes of Maspalomas to the dramatic, petrified peaks that inspired the Spanish writer Miguel de Unamuno, Gran Canaria’s landscapes are breathtaking. Explore the rugged coastal cliffs of Agaete, or venture north to the lush, verdant regions that contrast strikingly with the island’s arid south.

The historic city of Las Palmas, centuries old and rich in heritage, invites visitors to wander its charming colonial streets and palm-lined boulevards. For nature enthusiasts, an adventurous climb to the iconic Roque Nublo promises stunning panoramic views and an unforgettable experience.

In just a few kilometres, Gran Canaria offers deserts, mountains, beaches, and vibrant city life, all wrapped up in a warm, welcoming atmosphere. This compact yet diverse island truly has something for everyone.

La Palma & El Hierro

LA PALMA & EL HIERRO: Untamed Natural Beauty

La Palma and El Hierro are among the smaller Canary Islands, but they are packed with breathtaking natural beauty. These islands are perfect for travellers seeking unspoiled landscapes and outdoor adventures.

La Palma, often called “La Isla Bonita” (the Beautiful Island), is a paradise for hikers, with trails winding through lush green forests, volcanic craters, and dramatic cliffs overlooking the Atlantic. Its night skies are internationally renowned, making it one of the best places in the world for stargazing.

El Hierro, the westernmost island of the archipelago, is a haven of serenity. With its rugged coastline, volcanic terrain, and pristine waters, it offers an intimate connection with nature. From striking black lava landscapes to vibrant green hills and deep blue ocean views, both islands deliver a palette of colours and experiences that will stay with you long after your visit.

Fuerteventura

FUERTEVENTURA: Desert Dunes and Ocean Waves

Fuerteventura, the Canary Island closest to the African continent, is a true haven for surfers and adventure seekers. Its name, meaning “strong wind,” perfectly reflects the island’s dynamic landscapes and conditions that make it ideal for water sports.

The island is dominated by vast desert-like plains and stunning white dunes that stretch as far as the eye can see. For those who love dramatic, almost lunar landscapes, Fuerteventura offers a unique and evocative experience unlike anywhere else in the Canary Islands.

LANZAROTE: A Volcanic Snapshot in Just One Island

Just a short distance from Fuerteventura, Lanzarote stands in stark contrast to its neighbour. If Fuerteventura is the “white island,” Lanzarote is unmistakably the “black island,” where volcanic landscapes dominate every corner. From the otherworldly “malpaís” to the spectacular Timanfaya National Park, Lanzarote is a must-visit for anyone who wants to experience the raw power of volcanic nature.

Lanzarote is a place that leaves a lasting impression. Its dramatic volcanoes, untamed landscapes, pristine beaches, and distinctive wines create a unique destination. The island’s extraordinary light has inspired countless artists, most notably César Manrique, a multi-disciplinary genius who harmonised art and architecture with the preservation of Lanzarote’s natural beauty. Many of his remarkable creations, perfectly integrated into the volcanic terrain, are world-renowned.
