Journey to Seville’s Roman past

0

Travel back in time and discover Seville’s Roman origins on a half-day experience that explores two of the most important archaeological sites in Andalucía: Itálica and the Antiquarium. Perfect for history lovers, this tour reveals the legacy of one of the most influential civilisations to ever inhabit the Iberian Peninsula.

Antiquarium (Metropol Parasol – Las Setas)
Your journey begins in the heart of Sevilla with a visit to the Antiquarium, the archaeological museum located beneath the modern Metropol Parasol. Here you will admire well-preserved Roman, Visigothic, and medieval remains that reveal the early urban development of ancient Seville.

Italica: The First Roman City in Hispania
Located 30 minutes north of Seville, Italica was one of the principal settlements in the southwest of Roman Hispania. During this guided tour of approximately two hours on site, you will immerse yourself in the daily life, architecture, and power dynamics of a city that flourished more than two millennia ago.

A private vehicle will take you to Italica, in the town of Santiponce. Founded in 206 B.C., Itálica was the first Roman city in the Iberian Peninsula and the birthplace of Emperor Trajan. It also played a key role in the early life of Emperor Hadrian, making it one of the most significant Roman sites in Spain.

Amphitheatre, Theatre & Roman Houses
Italica has a spectacular amphitheatre, once the stage for gladiatorial games that attracted thousands of spectators. You will see the remains of its theatre and walk through the ruins of luxurious Roman houses decorated with intricate 2,000-year-old mosaics. With your expert guide, you’ll learn how this prosperous Roman town shaped the region’s history.

NOTE:

There is one option of a full-day excursion, continuing with lunch in Carmona and an afternoon visit to its unique Necropolis. Contact us for more details.

This tour is NOT available on Mondays.
